Landgoed Moersbergen ligt aan de voet van de Utrechtse Heuvelrug, precies op de overgang naar het Kromme Rijngebied. Het gebied heeft een lange geschiedenis met een kasteel dat al in 1435 bestond. Op het landgoed zijn nog elementen van de vroegere kasteeltuin terug te vinden. Sinds 1962 is het landgoed eigendom van Utrechts Landschap. We begonnen het afwisselende rondje bij de parkeerplaats aan de Moersbergselaan. Aan het begin liepen we over een breed pad met aan weerszijden hoge bomen waar vandaan we verschillende vogelgeluiden hoorden. De route zou gemarkeerd moeten zijn met gele paaltjes, maar dat bleek in de praktijk niet altijd duidelijk. Op sommige plekken stonden blauwe of rode strepen op de paaltjes, en dan weer een tijdje niets. Gelukkig klopte \u201cgeen gehoor, rechtdoor\u201d op die momenten wel. Niet erg, maar als je zonder navigatie loopt, is het goed om dat te weten!<\/span><\/p>\n

Onderweg zagen we vooral veel oude en holle bomen, waarschijnlijk al een eeuw of langer oud! Er waren een paar open plekken waar we uitkeken over graslanden en in de verte zagen we via doorkijkjes het kasteel liggen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Het gebied heeft een hoge natuurwaarde door de afwisseling van open weiden en gesloten bos. Er worden op het landgoed regelmatig grote groepen ree\u00ebn gezien maar ook vossen, hazen en eekhoorns. Helaas hebben wij alleen wat haasjes zien rondhuppelen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De wandeling is zeer geschikt als je even een uurtje wil wandelen door een afwisselend stukje natuur.
