Op bijna kruipafstand van het Utrechtse Science Park ligt Landgoed Oostbroek, een prachtig stukje natuur met een mooi landhuis. Het is echt een stukje rust tussen het drukke Utrecht en de nog veel drukkere A28. Er lopen twee korte wandelroutes: het Melkspoor van 1 km en het Knuppelpad van 1,5 km. Landgoed Oostbroek heeft een enorme geschiedenis, maar ik zal m\u2019n best doen om het samen te vatten. In 1122 werd de Krommerijn door bisschop Godebald bij Wijk bij Duurstede afgedamd en dat betekende dat het water beheersbaarder werd in onder andere dit gebied. Deze bisschop stichtte een klooster op Landgoed Oostbroek en de monniken maakten van het moerasgebied landbouwgrond. De naam \u2018Oostbroek\u2019 komt hier vandaan. \u2018Broek\u2019 betekent namelijk gewoon moerassig gebied. En dat dan ten oosten van Utrecht.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>De routes beginnen bij een winkeltje van Utrechts Landschap waar je van alles aan vogelgidsen en lokale producties kan kopen, maar ook een kopje koffie kan drinken. De routes lopen door een heel erg leuk stukje natuur, met heel veel afwisseling: je vindt er de oudste es van Nederland, er staat een statig landhuis, er zijn loofbossen, watertjes, weides, een kloostertuin, boomgaarden en een soort knuppelpad over de moerassige stukken. En het stikt er van de bijzondere vogels, als je hem hebt, vergeet je verrekijker dan zeker niet. Wat een ontzettend mooi stukje natuur midden in de drukte. Heel stiekem hoor je de A28 toch wel de hele tijd, want het is er niet zo groot, maar met genoeg wilskracht lukt het vaak wel om die te negeren. De routes zijn kort maar krachtig, je ziet echt heel erg veel in heel korte tijd en ook het stukje cultuur is leuk om te weten en zie je terug op informatieborden onderweg. Echt een pareltje!<\/span><\/p>\n
