In het hart van Zuid-Limburg, vlakbij het dorp Sweikhuizen, ligt het Stammenderbos: een verrassend heuvelachtig en rustig natuurgebied. De route die wij wandelden bij de parkeerplaats aan de Moorheide en is in een lus van 3,1 km. Vanaf de start doken we meteen het bos in via smalle, onverharde paden, al best een stukje omhoog. Het Stammenderbos is een oud hellingbos, wat betekent dat je een stukje moet klimmen en veel soorten loofbomen tegenkomt. Nou, dat was niet te missen. We wisten eiken, beuken, wat fruitbomen en ook verschillende naaldbomen te spotten.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Na nog wat kronkelpaadjes door het glooiende landschap te hebben gevolgd, kwamen we bij het hoogste punt van de wandeling. Ik was ervan overtuigd dat we op een prachtig uitzicht getrakteerd zouden worden, maar dit viel helaas toch een beetje tegen. We werden beloond met een uitzicht op weilanden, wat een feest.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Na dit punt ging de wandeling weer naar beneden. Ook afdalend werden we begroet door hoge bomen waar klimop zich aan had vastgeklampt. Het laatste stuk van de wandeling is vlak en brengt je weer terug naar de parkeerplaats. Doordat ik zo ongeveer alleen vogelgezang hoorde en doordat het bos zo glooiend en afwisselend was, kreeg ik het gevoel in een ander land op vakantie te zijn. Het helpt waarschijnlijk mee dat het bos aan een rustige weg ligt, waardoor je sowieso niet echt veel last hebt van het verkeer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Ondanks de korte afstand voelt de route door het hoogteverschil van 109 meter echt als een\u00a0 mini-avontuur! <\/p>\n
