In de buurt van Veldhoven ligt de Grote Vlasroot, een vijver waar veel vissen leven en verschillende vogels broeden. Je kunt hier omheen een rondje van 2,1 kilometer afleggen die je tussen de bomen door en rond de vijver meeneemt. Wij wandelden deze route op een zonnige zaterdagochtend nadat we de auto aan Volmolenweg de hadden geparkeerd. Al snel werden we blij van het uitzicht op de vijver en spraken af dat we na de wandeling een kopje thee zouden drinken op een van de picknickbankjes.<\/p>\n

<\/span>We hoorden de drukke weg gelukkig steeds minder en de verschillende tjilpende vogeltjes steeds meer terwijl we het pad op liepen. De hoge dennenbomen met huisjes voor de vogeltjes stonden statig langs het pad en de zon scheen zo nu en dan op het water. Het licht veroorzaakte een glinstering op de vijver met de vele vogels, wat het plaatje wel heel idyllisch maakte.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Na zo\u2019n 800 meter kan je de route afsnijden en tussen de Vlasroot en de visvijver doorsteken, waardoor je dan dus alleen om de ven heen wandelt. Wij gingen voor de hele route en wandelden rechtdoor om uiteindelijk bij de visvijver uit te komen. Hier gingen de dennenbomen over in eiken en berken en hadden vissers hun hengels in het water uitgegooid.
