Landgoed Koningshof ligt aan de rand van Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland, even ten westen van Haarlem. Dit is precies de grens tussen bosgebied en duingebied (en dat is mijn persoonlijke favoriet!). Je kunt parkeren op bijbehorend parkeerterrein, maar weet wel dat dit betaald parkeren is. De opbrengst gaat naar het onderhoud van het gebied (dus dat maakt het wat minder zuur!). Wanneer je van de parkeerplaats afloopt, kom je al vrij snel paaltjes tegen die duidelijk aangeven welke route je kunt nemen, deze zijn met kilometer en geschatte tijdsaanduiding. Ik volgde de groene route, die anderhalf uur zou duren. Anderhalf uur voor 3,5 kilometer?! Dat geloofde ik niet helemaal!<\/span>
<\/span>
<\/span>Het eerste deel van de route liep ik over een glooiend pad, tot ik uitkwam bij een hek dat toegang gaf tot begrazingsgebied. Hierna veranderde het bos en werd het vrij open en licht. Het was al bijna acht uur, hartje zomer, dus de lichtinval was prachtig. Het bos gaat hier over in duingebied en dat betekent niet alleen dat de begroeiing heel anders werd, maar dat je ook door stukken zand heen moet ploeteren. Gelukkig was het niet al te pittig en was de hitte van de dag al een beetje weggetrokken.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>De heuvels werden telkens ietsje hoger en overal vond ik sporen van Schotse Hooglanders en Konikpaarden. Helaas heb ik ze niet in het echt gezien. W\u00e9l werd ik achtervolgd door een enorme buizerd op niet al te grote afstand (nou ja, technisch gezien volgde ik hem, want hij vloog telkens voor me uit en vluchtte dan weer voor me weg). Ongeveer halverwege de route maakte ik een klein uitstapje naar de Appelberg, ik moest een heel klein stukje omhoog, maar kwam uit bij een heerlijk bankje met een prachtig uitzicht. Als je de route loopt is dit zeker een aanrader!\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>In de struiken hoorde ik van alles ritselen en eenmaal thuisgekomen kwam ik erachter dat er ook hagedissen in het gebied leven. Die heb ik helaas niet mogen zien. Het bos werd vanaf de Appelberg steeds ietsje dichter en het stond vol met Grote Dennen. Op een bepaald punt zag ik zelfs rails uit de grond steken. Ik kwam erachter dat er ooit een molen had gezien die het landhuis van stroom voorzag en het water in de omgeving omhoog pompte. De rails waren om de tuidraden (de scheerlijnen van een molen, ja, dit verzin ik niet) aan te bevestigen. Overveen is een prachtig stukje van Nederland. Dat stukje overgangsgebied tussen bos en duin vind ik altijd prachtig en deze route loopt daar precies doorheen. Het is de ideale combinatie tussen natuur, cultuur en wildlife (hagedissen, de vriendelijke buizerd en Hooglanders en Konikpaarden). <\/span><\/p>\n
