Het Vresselsbos, in het hart van het Groene Woud, is een natuurgebied van ongeveer 250 hectare dat bekend staat om zijn afwisseling. Ooit bestond het uit stuifzand en droge heide, maar vanaf 1920 zijn er naaldbossen aangeplant, terwijl de waardevolle vennen en heidevelden behouden zijn gebleven. We hadden de auto geparkeerd op parkeerplaats Natuurpoort Vresselse Hut, waar vandaan het begin van de route zo\u2019n 600 meter is. Het was even zoeken welke kant het begin van de route dan op was en waagden maar een gokje. Gelukkig liepen we de goede kant op en ontdekten we dat er bij het startpunt ook een parkeerplaatsje was: Parkeerplaats Bossen Vressel. Dat hadden wij even niet gelezen op de website van Staatsbosbeheer!\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Het eerste deel van de wandeling voerde ons door een lang zandpad met dennenbomen. De zon scheen door de hoge bomen en we roken de verse dennennaalden: ondanks de rommelige start was het een goed begin van de wandeling. Het bos werd telkens gevarieerder en de zandgrond ging over in bospaden bezaaid met gekleurde bladeren.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Verderop opende het landschap zich aan de rechterhand met kleine heidevelden en aan de linkerhand liep het bos door. We liepen door een hek waar een bordje naast hing van een koeienslachterij. Of we even wilden bellen als er een incident plaats zou vinden. Met een dubbel gevoel liepen we door het hek waarachter een begrazingsgebied lag. Op een bankje trokken we onze thermosflesjes thee tevoorschijn en genoten we van het uitzicht met de weerkaatsing van het zonlicht op de ven die voor ons lag. Ganzen, reigers en andere vogels leken hun plek hier gevonden te hebben.<\/p>\n

<\/span>We vervolgden de route langs het water en over de heide.
