Het was aan het eind van een frisse middag toen we aankwamen bij boswachterij De Vuursche, een natuurgebied van maar liefst 1200 hectare. Onze wandeling, gemarkeerd met witte bordjes, begon bij recreatieterrein Drakenstein<\/span> met een breed pad dat ons de bossen in leidde. We werden al blij verrast door de herfstkleuren, met een blauwe lucht en wat dramatisch grijze wolken op de achtergrond. Na een tijdje wandelden we langs de open heide en seinde ik naar Violet dat ze snel moest komen kijken: vlak voor ons stond een hertje, dat door zijn schutkleuren haast onzichtbaar was tussen de heideplantjes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Hoge dennenbomen, waar we de heide nog tussendoor konden zien, gingen over in dichter bos. Verderop kwamen we langs een paar kleine grafheuvels, prehistorische begraafplaatsen waarin mensen duizenden jaren geleden de doden begroeven. Zo werden in de steentijd de grafheuvels vaak gebruikt voor individuele begravingen en werden ze in de bronstijd werden vaker hergebruikt, waarbij meerdere personen in dezelfde heuvel werden begraven en er rijke grafgifte werden meegegeven. Na een stuk door het dichte bos, kwamen we aan de andere kant van de heide, waar een prachtige zonsondergang te zien was.<\/span><\/p>\n

Na weer een stuk door het bos bereikten we weer het startpunt. We hadden gehoopt nog even een glimp op te vangen van kasteel Drakensteyn, maar dat bleef helaas uit. De afwisseling van dichte bossen, stille heidevelden en de rust maakte de wandeling afwisselend. Het was een korte tocht over De Stulp, waar geschiedenis en natuur elkaar op een haast sprookjesachtige manier ontmoeten.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.24.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]
