Begin september gingen we op een mooie dag op pad voor een wandeling in het Floriadebos, in natuurgebied de Balij. Het bos is met zijn 25 jaar niet oud, maar wel het oudste bos van dit gebied. De wandeling voerde ons dwars door een groen gebied, dat verstopt lag tussen Zoetermeer en het omringende stadsleven. De route startte bij het parkeerterrein aan de rand van het bos. Op het informatiebord zagen we dat de bever een huisje had gevonden in de Balij en de kans dat we het beestje konden spotten maakte ons enthousiast. Ook zagen we dat de route werd aangegeven met paarse bordjes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Het begin van de route bracht ons over een verhard pad langs hoge bomen. We merkten direct dat het er rustig was, ondanks de woonwijk die naast het gebied lag. Aan de linkerkant van het pad lag een plas waar eenden, meerkoeten en andere watervogels ronddobberden. Hierna liepen we dieper het bos in. We waren blij met de verkoeling die de hoge bomen gaven, want het was erg warm. Aan het einde van het pad liepen we tegen \u2018de rode boei\u2019 aan, een kunstobject dat tevens een bankje is. We haalden we onze thermosflessen tevoorschijn en dronken een theetje voordat de route vervolgden.<\/span><\/p>\n

Na wat slingerpaadjes door het bos kwamen we bij een brug waarover blauwe kubussen waren gebouwd. De brug lag over een grote vijver, omringd door bomen en riet. De weerspiegeling van de zon in het stille water en de ganzen die hier zwommen maakten dit een rustgevende plek. Het laatste stuk van de route voerde ons over een verhard pad, wat gelukkig niet een heel lang stuk was en uiteindelijk waren we weer bij het startpunt.<\/span><\/p>\n

We vonden het een beetje jammer dat we de bever niet hadden gespot, maar waren wel blij verrast over het bos met verschillende bomen en de vijvers. Ondanks dat we niet diep in een afgelegen bos waren, hadden we wel het gevoel dat we ver van de bewoonde wereld waren!<\/span><\/p>\n
