Ten zuiden van Vianen ligt een wilgenplantage, ook wel een griend genoemd, die uniek is voor Nederland, zowel vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als de natuurwaarde. Utrechts Landschap beheert deze grienden actief door de wilgentenen elke 3 \u00e0 4 jaar te oogsten. Vanaf de Bolgerijse Kade heb je de keuze uit drie wandelroutes: een tocht van 2 kilometer, 3 kilometer of 4,5 kilometer. Wij kozen in eerste instantie voor de wandeling van 3 kilometer, die wordt aangegeven met gele paaltjes. Het eerste deel van de wandeling leidde ons langs rijen verschillende soorten bomen en planten, maar al snel werden de paden drassig en stonden we met onze waterdichte schoenen tot onze enkels in de modder. Violet vroeg of ik niet toevallig lieslaarzen achterin m\u2019n kofferbak had liggen en ik kon haar niet blij maken met mijn antwoord. Na een paar honderd meter te hebben geploeterd, werd het alleen maar erger en besloten we terug te lopen om op de route van 2 kilometer over te gaan, die met blauwe paaltjes wordt aangegeven.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Het pad was daar w\u00e9l begaanbaar en liep van bos over in weiland. Uit het hoge gras vloog er een buizerd op en koeien stonden te grazen. Na het weiland liepen we weer terug het bos in, langs de wilgenbomen waarover we hadden gelezen. We kwamen uit bij een vogelkijkscherm waar we vooral reigers en ooievaars konden spotten. De andere vogels waren vast nog op vakantie. Op dit stukje kwamen alle routes samen, zo ook de 4,5 kilometer route die wordt aangegeven met rode paaltjes.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Hoe dieper we het bos in liepen, hoe drassiger het pad helaas werd, maar we besloten dit keer wel de route af te maken en niet helemaal terug te gaan. Ongeacht de lengte van de route, is het verstandig om laarzen te dragen, vooral na regenval, omdat de paden modderig kunnen zijn. Die memo hebben wij even gemist.
