In de duinen bij Castricum vind je een gebied dat erg belangrijk is voor de bewoners van Noord-Holland: al meer dan 60 jaar wordt hier drinkwater gefilterd van rivierwater. Dat is natuurlijk niet het enige wat er leuk aan is: je vindt er ook een prachtig, rustig bos en duinlandschappen.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Op een mooie en niet al te warme zomerdag besloten we om het \u2018Rondje Infiltratiegebied\u2019 te wandelen. Met de belofte van een route van 6,6 kilometer, leek dit een perfecte middagwandeling. Het eerste deel van de route leidde ons door het dennenbos, <\/span>dat werd aangeplant voor de houtproductie. Hoge bomen en tjilpende vogels verwelkomen ons. De vogels kun je ook bekijken vanaf een uitzichtpunt aan het begin van de route.<\/span><\/p>\n

Langzaamaan liep het bos over in een open vlakte: het infiltratiegebied. <\/span>Hier maakten we kennis met het water dat een centrale rol speelt en zorgt voor een uitzicht met waterplassen, vogels en verschillende soorten planten. Er stonden bordjes waarop uitgelegd werd hoe de infiltratie nou precies werkt. Een houten vlonder bracht ons bij waarom we eigenlijk deze wandeling wilden doen: een waterinlaat die lijkt op een kwal. Hier stroomt het water doorheen dat afkomstig is uit het IJsselmeer. We vonden het een bijzonder en bijna buitenaards gezicht zo, tussen de duinen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De rest van de route liepen we over slingerende\u00a0 zandpaden tussen de struiken door. De stilte van het gebied, die alleen maar werd onderbroken door de zingende vogels, was precies wat we nodig hadden om even op te laden.<\/span><\/p>\n

Na zo\u2019n zeven kilometer op de teller begonnen we ons af te vragen waar de route zou eindigen. Ondanks dat de aangegeven afstand 6,6 kilometer zou moeten zijn, voelde het alsof we maar bleven wandelen. Met de zon die toch wel redelijk fel was, waren we er wel een beetje klaar mee. Uiteindelijk, na meerdere keren de kaart en Google Maps te hebben geraadpleegd, bleek de daadwerkelijke afstand meer rond de 8,5 kilometer te liggen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nu is dat op zich geen ramp in zo\u2019n prachtige omgeving, maar als je uitgaat van een bepaald aantal kilometers, dan houd je daar natuurlijk ook rekening mee. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De wandeling eindigde zoals hij begon: door het dennenbos. Ondanks de extra kilometers was het een zeer geslaagde wandeling. Het is een route die we iedereen zouden aanraden, vooral vanwege de rust en natuurlijk het bijzondere infiltratiegebied. Houd er dus wel rekening mee dat je misschien wat langer onderweg bent dan verwacht.<\/span><\/p>\n
