Als je aan de Biesbosch denkt, denk je aan een waterrijk moerasgebied met wilgen. De kans dat je hier een watervogel spot is groot, maar ook de bever houdt zich hier schuil. Die laatste wilden wij toch graag eens spotten, dus pakten we onze verrekijkers in en vertrokken richting parkeerplaats Jantjesplaat. 4 kilometer lang volgden we de oranje bordjes door oude en nieuwe delen van de Biesbosch, op zoek naar afgeknaagde boomstammen. Let op: je kan deze wandeling ook starten vanaf de parkeerplaats bij Biesboschmuseumeiland, dan is de wandeling 2,5 kilometer langer.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

De vorige keer dat we in de Biesbosch waren, was tijdens een snikheet zomerweekend waarbij we kennismaakten met de muggen en steekvliegen. Dit keer waren we er in april en hoopten op minder hitte en minder insecten. Vol goede moed stapten we uit en begonnen we aan de wandeling.<\/span><\/p>\n

De eerste paar honderd meter liepen we over afwisselend gras en bruggetjes. Links en rechts keken we uit over het water en de vele vogels die hier vertoefden, met aan de rechterhand een paar bomen die hoog uit het water staken. Ik herinnerde Violet eraan dat er ook zee- en visarenden te spotten zijn in het gebied. \u201cMisschien komt er wel \u00e9\u00e9ntje in die boom zitten!\u201d zei ze.<\/span><\/p>\n

We staken een dijk over en kwamen uit bij slingerpaadjes langs water, de plek waar we een paar jaar eerder waren lek gestoken. De muggen en steekvliegen waren gelukkig nog een dutje aan het doen waardoor we ons konden focussen op het prachtige uitzicht over het rustige water waar een paar meerkoeten en ganzen rond dobberden.<\/p>\n

Naarmate we verder liepen, kwamen we dichter bij een plek waarvan we hoopten dat het de favoriete stek van de bever zou zijn. En ja hoor, de bomen langs het pad vertoonden duidelijk tekenen van hun aanwezigheid: hier en daar zagen we vers afgeknaagde stammen. We hoorden zelfs wat geplons aan de waterrand, maar door het riet konden we helaas niks zien.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Na een tijdje kwamen we bij een bruggetje dat over het brede water liep. Met onze verrekijkers in de aanslag speurden we het wateroppervlak af, op zoek naar tekenen van activiteit. Elk golfje en elke eend kon een bever zijn die aan de oppervlakte kwam. “Zie jij iets?” vroeg Violet zachtjes, om de beestjes niet op te jagen. Ik schudde mijn hoofd. “Nog niet, maar hier moeten ze toch zitten?!\u201d We bleven nog een tijdje staan, maar gaven de hoop op en vervolgden de route over een ietwat modderig pad. Het einde van de wandeling trakteerde ons wederom op een uitzicht over water waar het zonlicht op reflecteerde.<\/p>\n

Hoewel we die dag geen bever of arend hebben gezien, voelde het toch als een klein avontuur. Het afwisselende gebied met uitzichten over het water maken deze route sowieso waard om te wandelen.
