Het was al flink aan het schemeren toen we de auto neerzetten bij de parkeerplaats van Chalet Helenaheuvel, een kneuterig huisje waar je koffie kan drinken en ongetwijfeld ook iets lekkers kan eten. Het chalet kijkt uit over een mooi dal, waar gezellige paadjes naar beneden kronkelen. Er starten hier verschillende wandelroutes, vari\u00ebrend van 1,8 tot 12 kilometer, maar omdat wij al zo laat waren kozen wij de kortste uit. Door de gele pijlen te volgen, liepen we ruim om de heuvel heen, door verschillende soorten bossen. We liepen voor het chalet langs direct het bos in. Dit deel van het bos stond vol met prachtige dikke bomen, waarvan een tamme kastanje veel indruk maakte. Het leek alsof deze ooit getroffen was door bliksem en je, als je erin zou gaan staan, geteleporteerd kon worden naar de Middeleeuwen. Een stukje verderop stapte een ree opeens het pad op. Gevolgd door een tweede. Het pad golfde tussen de bomen door, totdat in de verte opeens het chalet weer opdoemde. Toch werden we nog getrakteerd op een kleine (piepkleine) omweg door de heide in het dal. Het waren veel hoogtepunten voor zo\u2019n korte route. In dat halfuurtje hebben we bijzonder veel gezien en waren we echt even een heel eind van huis. <\/p>\n
