Bij station Rhenen start en eindigt NS-wandeling de Blauwe Kamer. Je kunt er voor kiezen om de route 10,5 km, 11,5 km, 15 km of 17,5 km te maken. De route voert je langs de uiterwaarden van de Nederrijn, door natuurgebied de Blauwe Kamer en over de Grebbeberg. Onderweg zie je hier en daar een haas voorbij sprinten en spot je verschillende vogels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/b>Na een korte treinrit stapten we uit in Rhenen en werden we de eerste 300 meter over een drukbezette Rijnbrug geleid. We hoopten maar dat dit geen voorteken zou zijn; ontspannen was het nog niet. Maar het uitzicht op de Nederrijn en grazende koeien maakten veel goed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Na de brug liepen we langs de Nederrijn. Zwaluwen vlogen ons om de oren en af en toe bleef er een geelgors op een paaltje zitten tot we dichterbij kwamen. We hoorden nog wel de drukte van de brug, maar liepen gelukkig steeds verder weg.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Met de zon in onze rug klommen we een dijk op. Een stukje verder liepen we over een trekkerspoor dat overging in een geasfalteerd pad. Na ongeveer een kilometer passeerden we een Romeinse wachttoren met ingebouwd koffietentje waar we besloten even te stoppen en een ijsje te eten in het zonnetje.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Na de ijsjes liepen we verder over een geasfalteerde weg richting het water. Met een veerpontje staken we over naar de overkant waar we het natuurgebied de Blauwe Kamer betraden. We hoorden vrij snel de koeien en zagen een fazant in de bosjes. Op het uitkijkplatform van de Blauwe Kamer genoten we van onze lunch en keken we uit op de koeien, galloways bleek later, met kalfjes. De plek bood een prachtig uitzicht op water waar een brug overheen liep en vogels die er neerstrijken, waaronder lepelaars en visarenden.<\/span><\/p>\n

We vervolgden onze weg, die ons langs de restanten van een steenfabriek leidde. Na wat bukken voor omgevallen bomen – best lastig met backpacks – liepen we het natuurgebied weer uit. Een stukje over een geasfalteerde weg ging over in een graspad langs een dijk met uitzicht op de Blauwe Kamer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Na een stukje langs een weg betraden we Natuurgebied De Grebbeberg. Hoge bomen met knalgroene bladeren verwelkomden ons op de berg. Een kleine klim bracht ons omhoog naar het hoogste punt met een uitzichtpunt over de Nederrijn. Een mooi cadeautje na het klimmen en natuurlijk tijd voor een fotomomentje. Na dit punt liep de route weer wat af en het laatste stuk daalden we af met behulp van een trap.<\/span><\/p>\n

Het laatste deel van de route liep aan de andere kant van de Nederrijn en eindigde bij het station.<\/p>\n

Al met al was de Blauwe Kamer een fijne route. Het begin over de drukke brug was minder prettig, maar dat waren we al snel vergeten. Het was een mooie combinatie van de uiterwaarden van de Nederrijn, het moerassige gebied van de Blauwe Kamer en de bossen bij de Grebbeberg. Goede wandelschoenen zijn belangrijk! Er zijn gemarkeerde bordjes van verschillende wandelroutes, maar wij gebruikten een GPX-viewer om de route te volgen. De wandeling krijgt van ons vier sterren.<\/p>\n
